Meet Camille! From our personal collection, this one-of-a-kind calico "LeMoyne Star" quilt block is a traditional quilt block with an eight-pointed star pattern. This textile is perfectly faded and has aged with grace. The neutral color palette of muted browns, blues, burgundy and creams would make it a perfect addition to modern country style.

It may be understated in tone, but the craftsmanship on this handmade textile is next level. It's perfectly worn in just the right places, with a certain  je ne sais quoi that makes it quite special!

A bit of history, this historic quilt pattern is also known as the Puritan Star or Lemon Star. The block is named after the LeMoyne brothers, Jean Baptiste and Pierre, who founded New Orleans in 1718. French speakers called the star "LeMoyne", but non-French-speaking quilters in the North shortened the name to "Lemon Star".

Quilts are special for their unique blend of artistry, history, and craftsmanship. Each handmade quilt is a labor of love, reflecting the quilter's creativity and skill while often preserving family heritage and cultural traditions. They provide warmth and comfort, symbolizing love and care, and serve as tangible expressions of personal stories or historical events.

The communal aspect of quilting fosters a sense of community and shared tradition, while the sustainable practice of using fabric scraps highlights resourcefulness. We believe the process of quilting offers therapeutic and meditative benefits, making quilts cherished treasures that embody both emotional and practical significance.

Please Note | This is a one of a kind vintage piece. All images have been minimally edited with the use of natural light to best reflect the true condition of the item. Please remember that vintage and antique textiles like quilts were made to be used, and that imperfections they have gotten over the years add to the depth of beauty and charm reflected in this rare and most treasured art form. This beautiful quilt is soft and an amazing piece of history. There is age-related wear and a few stars that have patches worn through to the backing as shown in photos.
