Colonial Williamsburg Slipware Tulip Mugs

$34.00

description

These gorgeous redware tulip mugs are vintage Colonial Williamsburg pieces, made in the early 1990s as reproductions of earthenware found in archaeological digs in Williamsburg. They reflect common 18th century Anglo-American pottery, pieces that featured red earthenware decorated with trailed liquid clay called slip. The slip was usually applied in a contrasting lighter color.

Simple geometric designs were common from the mid-to-late 18th century including wavy lines, stripes and loops. These lovely pieces bring history and warmth, tradition and craftsmanship.

Dimensions | 4.5” x 3” x 4.75”
