1883 Copeland Spode Porcelain Plate
1883 Copeland Spode Porcelain Plate
$40.00
description
This rare and gorgeous plate was made by W.T. Copeland and Sons in Stoke-upon-Trent, England. The markings M 83, impressed on the back, show that this piece was made in 1883. This antique plate blooms with delicate florals, their fine lines resting softly against a creamy background, a garden detail preserved.
The patterned border frames the scene with quiet elegance, lending both structure and grace. A wonderfully historic display piece, it carries the charm of everyday beauty made lasting.
W. T. Copeland & Sons was a prominent British pottery company founded in the early 19th century. It originated from the partnership between Josiah Spode II and William Copeland. After Josiah Spode's death in 1827, Copeland took over the firm, and by 1847, the company officially became W. T. Copeland & Sons, eventually reverting back to the Spode name in the 1970s.
